Sustainability consultancy

Our team is multidisciplinary and comprises architects, building biologists, biologists, geoecologists and chemists. We analyse building products across all aspects of sustainability and deal with building pollutants in various contexts on a daily basis.

Support for municipal renovation projects

The building stock in many local authorities is outdated, often inadequately documented and, as a result, inefficient to operate. Added to this is a strained staffing situation in many towns and municipalities. We provide support in developing strategies for a systematic approach to solving structural problems:

  • Sufficiency: What are the actual needs? What can be omitted to reduce the burden?
  • Efficiency: How can we operate the building stock more effectively?
  • Low-tech: How can repairs be carried out using simple means and with reduced reliance on technical systems?
  • Dialogue formats: How can committees and the public be involved to shape change with political backing?

Building materials expertise for your planning team

Dealing with complex existing building situations requires extensive work prior to ‘Phase 1 – Basic Planning’ under the HOAI. Even at this early stage of the project, interdisciplinary planning teams should engage with the existing building stock in a coordinated manner. The better the fundamentals are analysed, the more precisely planning and the achievement of objectives can be carried out.

We support planning teams in their detailed examination of the existing building stock and local resources:

  • What building materials and hazardous building materials are present?
  • What might a sensible sampling strategy look like?
  • Introduction of material catalogues
  • Material matrix for comparative planning decisions
  • Construction-related building material management
  • Identification of local opportunities for value creation to support short supply chains

Building certification according to BNK/BNG and QNG

As consultants for sustainability in construction, we support you and your building project and, if desired, guide you through the certification process in accordance with BNK/BNG (Assessment System for Sustainable Small-Scale Housing Construction / Sustainable Building Assessment System) and QNG (Quality Seal for Sustainable Buildings).

In doing so, the core elements of sustainable construction are integrated into your planning. A prerequisite for certification is compliance with the requirements set out in the BNG/BNK system profiles of the BiRN Institute in Bamberg.

In addition, certification under the federal QNG scheme is possible. This certification enables clients to access extended funding opportunities through KfW.
